Aaniin Hello, Anthony here. When in session I really enjoy empathically listening and taking in your worldview and lived experience; this human experience that we are all a part of.
As we continue to work together, and I get to know what is deeply important to you, I will often reflect back to you parts of your story that mean something to you that you may look past.
Something I have come to learn is that there is a great power in human validation, and knowing that you are not alone. Often, I reflect in how external influences may try to push us into a mold throughout our lives; whether its systems telling us all of the things we aren't enough in, or the familial and relational stories of the past that we carry into our present constellation of relationships.
I tend to have a softer tone in sessions, but I do have a bit of a loud laugh. I will gently challenge you in areas that you have told me are important to you, and I also like to check in to make sure that our work together feels like it's on your self-determined course.
Outside of session, I enjoy practicing accessible ways of integrating mindfulness and body movement into my daily life, whether that's through yoga or strength conditioning. I like to take any opportunity I can get to be in nature and on the land, which holds deep cultural significance for me. I am enthralled by the teachings that the natural world expresses to us; this includes practicing and moving on the path passed down to me of the Odawa/Ojibwe ways, within knowing and being. I am also a big fan of film, art and literature. When able to, I like to use various medium expressions to create art such as photography, painting and the use of charcoal. I am also usually always looking for ways to challenge myself, learn new skills and continue my education through my commitment to life-long learning.
