New Year's Intentions

Is this it??? Will this FINALLY BE THE YEAR THAT WE HAVE FLYING CARS??

✅ GOALS✅ vs ✨INTENTIONS✨

Goal: the object of a person’s ambition or effort; a desired result.

Intention: an aim or plan.

Despite the definition of the word being much more similar to an intention, new year's resolutions are often used as vague, feel-bad goals to target people with ploys of fear, guilt, & shame. Though well-intended, this annual practice has become commercialized and used as a means to bolster diet supplements, fashion fads, & other unnecessary products and services.

The danger of resolutions is REAL, especially when we set unrealistic expectations for ourselves and determine our value/worth/success on our adherence to these expectations. Not to mention the fact that WE'VE ALL SURVIVED A PANDEMIC...............

Aside from supporting capitalism, this practice creates an even bigger problem—it is based on the assumption that we are not enough as we are right now.

Intentions, on the other hand, are solely focused on connecting (or reconnecting) with the values & beliefs that are important to us.

This New Year's, in addition to goals and resolutions, why not test out one of these intentions?

... about values

... about things to do

... about the people in your life

... about yourself

... about our resources

... about your feelings

... about your needs

... about the importance of your needs

....... and most importantly, about the fact that you are worthy & deserving of acceptance exactly as you are.

In the midst of growth, goals, and resolutions, try not to forget about the amazingness that is YOU.

Keep shining, you miraculous human
